You can adjust the suction level for this head manually via a turn dial on the top of the attachment. This function is especially helpful if you don't want to have to adjust your suction levels each time you clean- you can leave it adjusted to the level you use. Being able to see into the brush roll makes it easy to know when it's time to clean out the debris from your head. This is easily done by opening the head and running a blade, scissors, or a sewing seam ripper such as this across the brush roll.
